Star Citizen Alpha 3.4.0 is an upcoming Star Citizen update planned to be released around December 2018 (Q4). As per the roadmap, the content in the update is subject to change. (Last Update: 2018-12-08)

Characters

Mission Giver: Constantine Hurston

Creating a new mission giver to add to the Lorville location. This includes concepting with the character team, creation of the character's clothing/props and environment, capturing performance/lines, solving the animation and audio files for implementation into the engine, creating the Behavior tree, and hooking up mission content for this character. This task will also include the creation of any text needed to accompany their mission.

Mission Giver: Wallace Klim

Creating a new mission giver to add to the Levski location. This includes concepting with the character team, creation of the character's clothing/props and environment, capturing performance/lines, solving the animation and audio files for implementation into the engine, creating the Behavior tree, and hooking up mission content for this character. This task will also include the creation of any text needed to accompany their mission.

Shipjacker Armor

Creating and implementing armor that consist of a wilder, more anarchic combination of styles.

Locations

Lorville Business District

Creation of Lorville's core Business District , including populating the area with NPCs, shops, mission, etc. This feature is dependent upon implementation of Object Container Streaming.

Gameplay

Mining Improvements

General improvements to mining on both planetary bodies and asteroids.

Ship Item Rental

Adding functionality that allows players to rent ship items with REC for use in Arena Commander via the Main Menu rental shop.

Patrol Mission Improvements

Improvements to the variety of Patrol Missions currently available, as well as implementation of Patrol Missions near Hurston.

VoIP & FoIP Improvements

Adding support for a simultaneous, proximity-based server-wide VoIP channel along with the dedicated channel, including, the ability to mute individual contacts, integration with OCS, and FoIP calibration and other performance improvements.

Player Interaction Improvements

Improvements and streamlining of the interaction system for players interacting with objects in the world.

Scramble Race Improvements

Additional Improvements and bug fixes.

Retrieval & Delivery Mission Improvements

Extending Delivery Missions to use Hurston and its moons and further Rest Stops. Additional Improvements and bug fixes.

Quantum Travel Improvements

Continue to improve the Quantum Travel mechanic with upgrades to UI, interaction, and spline jumps.

AI

FPS Combat: Smooth Locomotion Improvements

General improvements to Smooth Locomotion for Combat AI and the AI network synchronization related to that. This includes a more robust character avoidance and an updated strafing animation set for combat AI.

Ships and Vehicles

  • Origin 600i Touring Module

Creating the Touring variant of Origin's 600i luxury ship, and all balancing requirements needed to make it flight ready in the game.

Implementing and balancing the updated base model of MISC's Reliant series to make it flight-ready in the game. Work on this task will include reworking the ship's cargo area, updating the landing gear, revising the nozzle system, and making adjustments to the ramp.

Building, implementing, and balancing Anvil's light fighter, the Hawk, as a flight-ready ship in the game.

Implementing and balancing the revised version of MISC's Freelancer hauling variant and making it to flight ready in the game.

Implementing and balancing the revised version of MISC's Freelancer exploring variant and making it to flight ready in the game.

Implementing and balancing the revised version the Freelancer's gunship variant, the MIS, and making it flight ready in the game.

Weapon and Items

Kastak Arms Ravager-212 Twin

Designing and creating Kastak Arms' dual barrel shotgun for use by characters in-game. This includes asset creation, passes by numerous departments, and Design input on weapon balance.

Joker Engineering Suckerpunch Cannon Revision

Covers all the tasks associated with updating Joker Engineering's Suckerpunch Cannon series (S1-3) and implementing the revised versions in-game.

Behring Sawbuck Repeater Revision

Covers all the tasks associated with updating Behring's Sawbuck Repeater series (S1-3) and implementing the revised versions in-game.

Core Dev Tech and Systems

Procedural City Rendering Performance

Development of technology that allows large procedural cities to render more efficiently in engine regardless of distance from the camera. This feature is dependent upon implementation of Object Container Streaming.

Object Container Streaming: Code Conversion Improvements

Continuing work for object container streaming, continuing to convert all legacy Lua code to C++ for improved performance and greater flexibility for multi-threading.

Object Container Streaming: Background Spawning Improvements

Further work on object container streaming, allowing entities to spawn from background threads more efficiently to minimize stalling.

Video Comm Improvements

Improvement to Video Comm graphics performance and enhancements to the visual presentation.

Performance Optimization

General optimization and engine improvements to increase stability and performance for the players. This includes continued transition of gameplay systems to Item 2.0 as well as investigation and resolution of possible memory leaks and performance spikes.

Postponed

FPS Ping & Scanning

Transfer of the Scanning and Ping system to players on foot. The initial implementation of this feature will include discovering active and temp contacts, generating blobs for distant entities, and the ability to scan entities for additional info.

ArcCorp Moon - Lyria/Wala, postponed until 3.5

The creation and implementation of ArcCorp's moon Lyria and Wala, including constructing outposts and populating the moon surfaces. This feature is dependent upon implementation of Object Container Streaming.

ArcCorp Planet, postponed until 3.5

The design, creation and implementation of the sprawling urban planet, ArcCorp, including points of interest around the planet. This feature is dependent upon implementation of Object Container Streaming.

Area18 Landing Zone, postponed until 3.5

Incorporating Landing Control Area18, landing zone on the planet ArcCorp and one of the main commercial ports for interplanetary traffic for the surrounding region. This work includes populating the city with NPCs, Missions, and Stores. This feature is dependent upon implementation of Object Container Streaming.

Playable Female Characters, postponed until 3.5

Implementing the models, animations and items to allow for Players to select a female avatar, as well as update female NPCs in the various locations.

'[FPS Combat] Stealth,' postponed until 3.5

NPC behaviors will allow the player to approach an encounter using stealth tactics and also allow NPCs to react appropriately.

[Flight] Quantum & Strafing, postponed until 3.5

This batch of improvements will allow AI Pilots to use quantum navigation, provide more updates to the IFCS flight mode, and allow AI to use basic scanning mechanics to possibly detect stealthed ships.

  • Origin 315p - Rework, postponed until 3.5

Implementing and balancing the revised model of the Origin 315p as a flight ready ship in the game.

  • Origin 325a - Rework, postponed until 3.5

Implementing and balancing the revised model of the Origin 325a as a flight ready ship in the game.

  • Origin 350R - Rework, postponed until 3.5

Implementing and balancing the revised model of the Origin 350R as a flight ready ship in the game.

  • Origin 300i - Rework, postponed until 3.5

Implementing and balancing the updated model of the Origin 300i as a flight ready ship in the game.

Gas Cloud Tech, postponed until 3.5

Implementation of the underlying tech that will allow rendering of volumetric effects such as asteroid field dust, comet tails, etc.

Projectile Manager, postponed until 3.5

Implement physics systems that will improve projectile functionality and realism in-game.

Hard Surface Shader Improvements, postponed until 3.5

Implementing improvements to the hard surface and organic shaders, allowing for enhanced environmental detail.
