The official Star Citizen HOTAS

The Atom is an official Star Citizen HOTAS by Saitek that was presented at Gamescom 2015.[1]

History

Cloud Imperium Games wanted to do an entire range of peripherals varying in price, including HOTAS but also HOMAK, HOTAK, HOMAS, HOSAS, all built and configured for Star Citizen, with Saitek being the company most willing to do this, what is more CIG also chose Saitek as the X-52 was used as inspiration for the joystick for the early base model for the Hornet.[2][1]

Chris Roberts presented the protoype at Gamescom 2015.[2][1]

A headset and a mouse were also envisioned.[1]

Carl Jones presented an update at CitizenCon 2015, along with a mock-up.[3][4][5]

The pre-sale was to start in december 2015 and was to include the 149.99$ HOTAS with the first 2000 units pre-signed by Chris Roberts, and the keyboard at 199.99$, bringing the total to 350$ with delivery by april/may 2016.[6][7]

In September 2016, Logitech bought Saitek from Mad Catz For $13 Million.[8] Mad Catz itself bankrupted in march 2017.[9] An Atom Pathfinder prototype was put on sale on Ebay in May 2017 from a clearance sale.[10] There have been no news since and the project is therefore considered to be unofficially cancelled.
