Darian Vorlick

Producer at Cloud Imperium Games

Darian Vorlick is Production Coordinator at Cloud Imperium Games for Arena Commander.[1]

Early Life

He started as a Biology Major wanting to be surgeon before getting into the video games industry.[1]

He decided not to go into medical school as it wasn't his passion.[1]

Other Works

He travelled the world working for a magazine as an ad sales rep. When the magazine went under he ended up working for an ad agency. This progressed into working for Dog Fancy and Cat Fancy magazine from 2001 to 2006 as one of the advertising top managers amking 6 digits.[1]

At the time he had a lot of friends from Blizzard, which was looking to hire managers to help start up their customer support depertment, but he didn't take it as he didn't want to take the pay cut. However due to the stress of his job, he ended up changing jobs anyway and went to work at Blizzard starting up as tech support at 12 dollars an hour. He became a trainer for tech support, went on to train the QA team, went on to work on live ops for Diablo III on the QA side. He stayed at Blizzard just shy of 8 years.[1]

He knew Alex Mayberry who was lead producer at Blizzard and who quit to work at CIG and learned that Chris Roberts was behind Star Citizen, whom he knew was behind Wing Commander and had worked on the Ultima series. While working on fantasy games was great, he was always a science fiction guy at heart. Seeing that it was a passion project for Chris Roberts, he wanted to be a part of something that had the potential to be huge. He asked Alex Mayberry if there were any production positions, and after a couple of months he joined as a production coordinator wearing a lot of hats, where he would have better chance of making a difference than at Blizzard.[1]
