The Kavische cactus is capable of growing anywhere up to 2.5 meters in height.[1] It is a columnar cactus hybrid that developed on Yar in the Red Desert shortly after the introduction of flora into the newly terraformed ecosystem. Adapting the hue of the red sand, the Kavische quickly became one of the predominant plants on the planet.[2]
Once they reach maturity, the Kavische put out a single large flower that will range in color from white to orange to red to purple, depending on the region in which it grows and its specific variety.[3]
The Kavische's flowers are pollinated by Giant Yar Moth's. In turn, the flower closes and transforms into a water-rich fruit consumed by desert birds, rodents, and other animals. These animals then spread the seeds of the Kavische, widening its spread across the planet.[3]
Dwarf Kavische have become popular outside of Yar as house plants. Producing much more vibrant and a greater number of flowers than their much larger cousins.[3]
