History

In August 2016 there was a need of having a high quality and active wiki dedicated to Star Citizen, quickly it was decided that the other wiki's were not salvageable and it was best to start from scratch. After a call to arms on the Star Citizen subreddit a team was made to build and maintain this new wiki. Several projects were setup to have game information and lore more accessible to the community such as Comm-Link archival project and localization of the entire wiki and it's contents.

In 2017 the team started to think bigger and decided we could offer more to the community and thus creating the Star Citizen Tools project. A site offering various tools to the community of with the wiki as it's starting point. The first of which was the release of the Kyexiin font which can be used to write Xi'an script.

Team

There are a few people who are constantly trying to improve the site to the best of their ability, most of them have even been working on it since the very beginning. If you want to know what they are up to at the moment check out their user pages.

But of course the site couldn't have gotten to this point without all the other community volunteers such as all the contributors, translators and editors.

Community

Like Wikipedia, a wiki is a site where anybody -- not just administrators or members -- can edit any page. Wikis are best used for building a collaborative knowledge database, especially for the massive amount of information embedded in Star Citizen. The wiki is built and driven by volunteers who want to provide a great wiki for anyone seeking information related to Star Citizen.

Here are examples of the different type of volunteers that we have:

Editors

We are still very much looking for editors, these people help us with the administration of the wiki. Some tasks include moderation of edits and talk pages, preparing pages for translation, marking pages for translations and will be involved in wiki design/style/convention/rule decisions.

If you are interested or think you will fit the role, please contact any of administrators here or on Discord.

Contributors

The contributors are the driving soul of the wiki, they create new pages and keep everything up to date. We already have quite a few contributors but everyone who wants to help, will be welcomed and be put to good use.
