Major Events
- Kathryn Segovia discovers the Th.us'ūng system (Pallas System) through Baker. Segovia auctions off the nav point to the highest bidder. Her scans would only reveal rich mineral deposits and a potentially habitable planet.[1]
- Gaia Planet Services would go on to win the bid, racing a terraforming team to the system. In order to cut corners to offset the price paid for the system, they would not register the system with the UPE.[1][2][3]
- Foreman Charles Baxter would lead the terraforming team to Se'kith (Pallas III) and begin surveying locations for terraforming equipment. They would be quickly surrounded by "strange" ships, captured, and placed under guard. Humanity's first interaction with the Xi'an.[1]
- The Xi'an would release Baxter in a show of good faith, Baxter would return to the Baker system and report to his superiors, rather than the authorities who would later contact the UPE.[1][4]
- It would take the UPE fifteen days to begin to communicate with the Xi'an and another fifty-seven days to reach a deal.[1]
- Two points of contention would rise; first, the Xi'an Empire demanded the UPE vacate the system - something that would quickly be agreed upon, and second, the UPE would reveal the extent of the Empire and the location of all known systems.[1]
- The UPE would inevitabley agree to both these points. All hostages would be returned unharmed. However, the disparity between what the UPE knew of the Xi'an Empire, and what they knew of us would breedfear and eventually stoke the Xi'an-Human Cold War.[1]
