Starcloth

From the Star Citizen Wiki, the fidelity™ encyclopedia

Starcloth is the Star Engine character cloth simulation.[1]

Features

Starcloth features accurate collisions with the body, is influenced by the wind and support collisions with dynamic objects.[1]

It supports the complete range of motions.[1]

Thruster backwash, explosions, projectile impacts are taken into account.[1]

It always updates at 120 fps regardless of the framerate (~8 ms).[1]

History

In 2014 Star Citizen collaborated with Warhorse Studios, makers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, in an exchange of technology and knowledge, regarding layering, in particular enhancements to the attachment system in CryEngine.[2][3][4] CIG had stopped using that technology and was working on its own solution as of 2016.[5]

Cloud Imperium Games Starcloth technology was initially unveiled at CitizenCon 2022.[6]
