The UEES Achilles was a Perseus-class gunship that served in the United Empire of Earth Navy. During Operation Mandrake in 2946 in the Vanduul War, the aging Achilles managed to take down two Vanduul destroyers when the ship was damaged beyond repair. Due to its performance, UEEN Admiral Ernst Bishop personally lobbied RSI to start producing the Perseus model again for use against the Vanduul. As production of the Perseus had ended in the 2860's, the Achilles would have been at least 77 years at the time.[1]
Perseus class gunships are historically named for great historical or mythological figures, in this instance Achilles, hero of the Trojan War.[2]
