Void Rats

UEEN Hornet anti-slaver squadron

The Void Rats are a UEEN fighter squadron. Originally they were concieved as an anti-slaving squadron in the Nexus system, under the command of Lt. Cdr. Naya Antoinette, her first command.[1][2] Admiral Hackbarth, to whom the squadron reported, granted the squadron a commendation for this action.[2] The squadron was equipped with the outdated Hornet fighter, based aboard the UEES Africanus, a decrepit battlecruiser that had been repurposed as a carrier and support vessel .[1]

They suffered a significant defeat in the Nexus system at the hands of mysterious assailants. After this, Admiral Hackbarth reassigned them to sweep the Cathcart system and head to the Centauri system Despite this being a low-action posting, the squadron once again found itself in conflict with the same mysterious assailants.[1]

The squadron commandeered a Mark I Constellation the Plumetail from its owner, Captain Sharona Sirene,[3] which was able to repel the attackers. The local captain was able to identify the assailants as crime lord Zander Dane and his crew, seeking personal revenge against Lt. Cdr. Naya Antoinette for her father's role in Unit 0811, who had experimented on Dane, using him as a test subject for cybernetic flight interface technology.[4] Together, three members of the squadron (Antoinette, Jackson and MacClean) and Sirene tracked Dane to the Nul system, where MacClean and Jackson were captured.[5] The team were able to kill Dane and destroy his ship, the Silver Spider.[6]

Their Squadron number is not known.
