Xenosystems ( Xi'an: A8ohui0luai(A8ohui0luai) (Proper); )[1], ( Banu: ochoa(zinositsemzo); )[2] is a privately owned geological survey organization, that proudly delivers commercially viable mineral deposits for the galaxy’s mining industry.

Origins

The co-founders of the business made their fortunes by investing in a little-known mining venture formed prior to the advent of RSI’s Orion mining platform, and based on the knowledge of its anticipated arrival, by developing a lead into what was, then, a very stagnant and exclusive industry.

No one was prepared for the explosion of entrepreneurial activity that originated with the commercial release of the Orion, nor did they foresee the profound effect it would have on the economy. Suffice to say, our founders’ initial investment performed rather well.

With the dividends of their success and their burgeoning knowledge of the mining sector, our founders incorporated Xenosystems Exploration & Survey as a cutting-edge prospecting organization, to discover and acquire new mineral deposits for resale.[3]

Services

Discovers the most viable deposits by exploration and data analysis.

Claims and secures mineral assets, including via land claims

  1. Mining services
  2. Refining services
  3. Outpost Construction
  4. Turn-key solutions for any partner or customer[4]

Specialization

Noted for the lack of an official security division, this surprising omission is due to plans to outsource most of the security requirements to a growing list of trusted commercial partners. This way the organization can focus its development and training on core competencies, helping it to become one of the best mineral extraction and property asset management firms[5] in the ‘Verse.

However, for those interested in taking a proactive stance on safety and security, regular joint training sessions are established with partners. This allows them to become familiar with our operational requirements and limitations, and permit members to learn combat techniques and awareness from the experts.

It shouldn’t go without saying that there is no requirement to devote every minute of one's life to be dedicated to the organization. It’s a game at the end of the day and Xenosystems doesn't want anyone to feel limited by the areas of specialism.

Culture

Xenosystems is first and foremost a casual group of friendly people having a great time together and thriving. With “Real life first” as the unofficial motto, the intention is to create a robust and profitable industrial organization where members can bring their skills, experience and initiative to the table to help the group as whole.

Members come from all planets and all backgrounds, many are hard workers and have families, which contributes to making Xenosystems a casual organization both by choice and by necessity, where some pilots can be found muting their voice comms because their child is sleeping. A certain maturity and a sense of humour are easy to find there.

Discussion of sensitive topics such as politics or religion is actively discouraged in order to have a break from it and avoid creating drama among people of very diverse backgrounds, personalities and cultures who seek a place to enjoy some fun. It’s about creating and preserving the atmosphere that is sought-after[6].

While access to some data or projects is kept under wraps to ensure a minimum of safety and discretion for the organization, for example by avoiding to advertise the composition of its fleet, Xenosystems has nevertheless made public projects such as the Star Systems Database or its resources page, to help the community in its entirety.

Even with various people putting a lot of time and effort into making things work, nobody is expected to devote their entire life to the org.

Members are encouraged to voice their ideas and opinions so that their experience can be improved upon. Initiative is about making things happen together.

Activities can be carried out by lone wolves and team players alike. If someone just wants to tune out alone and listen to some music while still contributing to the organization, that’s perfectly doable.

Data-driven decisions, innovations, long-term strategic thinking and professionalism, the Xenosystems organization embodies continuous-improvement practices and is extremely committed to the atmosphere it creates for its members.

The official motto which dates back to the purely exploration focused origins is "Scio Me Nescire"[7], latin for I Know That I Know Nothing", embodying curiosity, openness, discovery, and perpetual learning.

Structure

Xenosystems has a very simple leadership structure known as the Board of Directors. As the name implies, several Directors lead and manage core aspects of the organization. At the head of the table, is the Chief Executive Officer. Whilst they retain the single highest position, it is the CEO’s role not to boss people around but to ensure both tactical and strategic goals for the organisation are met within the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Founders will always retain a position on the board. The main objective of the directors is to provide a solid core and ensuring that things get done despite being casual.

Being higher in the organization doesn’t give special rights, it gives more responsibilities, and the attribution of roles is based on experience and character, not on ships nor personal relations. Ranks do not make anyone better than somebody else and you won’t find kids barking orders.

Initiative and team-based projects are encouraged in order to provide everyone with the opportunity to lead regardless of their availability, while babysitting and micromanagement are avoided.

A self-sustaining structure with a mission-based framework allows members to commit to certain missions/projects for predefined periods of time, providing sufficient amounts of time-flexibility and reducing the need for a traditional hierarchical approach to leadership.

The top-down direction is mostly to provide guidance and support to achieve objectives. The aim is to fly together as equals and friends, rather than managerial-egos and subordinates. This doesn’t mean that anarchy rules the day. Every mission or project will have a designated leadership role which members can assume on a flexible basis, to limit the detrimental side-effects of a fully democratic system, where a lack of rapid consensus might result in our space-people dying or suffering costly damage to their deployed assets.

The Xenosystems Exploration & Survey logo symbolizes its core focus on teams, the desire to play with culturally diverse people, to make new friends from all over the world, to interact authentically with each other and to engage in teamwork to achieve a common goal, whilst always sharing a good laugh.

It is a diamond formed of four other diamonds, representing the four pillars of XES: people, fun, being casual (“real life first”), and team play. It also references the focus on resources and the quality achieved together. And of course what links the diamonds into one is the X of Xenosystems.

Taking inspiration from the Korean Chaebols & Japanese Zaibatsus of old, industrial and financial conglomerates, the logo reflects the industrial and financial nature of the org..

Equally inspired by the elegant japanese mons, or family crests, it is also a reference to the organization as a clan.[8]

It predates the visually similar logo that can be found on ArcCorp.

Allegations

Xenosystems members have been accused of flying with barely any clothes on and of throwing each other out of airlocks for fun, however those allegations have never been proven as the UEE inspectors have never been heard from again.
