Jake Bradley

From the Star Citizen Wiki, the fidelity™ encyclopedia

Jake "Acappella" Bradley is Community Manager for Star Citizen and Squadron 42 at Cloud Imperium Games.[1]

Works at CIG

Jake applied to become community manager in 2016, but at the time CIG ended up eventually choosing to promote from within Tyler Witkin from QA instead, who then hired Jake 4 years later in November 2020 in the middle of the Covid 19 pandemic, for a lower position in which they had some experience as Junior Data Specialist, focused on the backend of the roadmap, specifically for the community team. It quickly became obvious that Jake could handle a lot more and they became promoted to community manager in a few months, possibly one of the quickest promotions.[2][3]

They are the curator of the public roadmap.[3]

Other Works

They did everything from running a Gamestop to bartending to car sales to data entry to enterprise software sales to working at Starbucks.[2]

Early Life

They went to college for Music Production, but the scene in Boston was cut-throat and too crazy to find something substantial. [2]

Quotes

"I am one with the Roadmap, the Roadmap is with me." -Jake Acapella.[4]

Trivia

  • They were never really part of a gaming community before Star Citizen, with having a Warcraft guild being the closest until Star Citizen. The video Imagine: Star Citizen made him fall in love with Star Citizen and started his journey. They didn't know anything about Chris Roberts, had played a bit of Freelancer, and while they were aware of Wing Commander they didn't engage with it. Three days after seeing the video they bought the game. With the transparency surrounding the game development, they became interested in the game development itself and watched all the video series, joined the subreddit, and joined the Imperial News Network in February 2015 by covering Pax East 2015, within three months after buying the game.[2]
