New Babbage

New Babbage is the largest city^[1] on planet microTech and a major trading hub, serving as headquarters for software and high-end electronics manufacturer microTech. The landing zone is also a haven for small tech companies, as the cold climate makes for an ideal location to house heat-sensitive computing and manufacturing centers.^[2] Large public spaces are enclosed under domes to protect inhabitants against the planet's freezing elements.

Districts

New Babbage Interstellar Spaceport

New Babbage Interstellar Spaceport sits outside of New Babbage, on the opposite side of the frozen lake. The structure is built into the side of the mountain and supports large volumes of traffic landing and taking off constantly.

Next to the spaceport is a set of garages, where you can go to park or retrieve your vehicle if you desire to travel by ground instead of taking the transit system.^[3]

The Commons

Often referred to as the Dome District, the Commons is the main commercial and social hub in the city. It is located on the smaller side of the main dome, which is unofficially dubbed the "double bubble" due to its shape being two merged domes. It is modeled after a "douchey campus" with recreational space,^[3] and includes a large central yoga field surrounded by a gym, climbing wall, and several eateries:^[4]

New Babbage Plaza

The Plaza is located next to the Commons on the larger part of the "double bubble." This area is the corporate business park of New Babbage, housing several different shops and offices:^[4]

Promenade

The Promenade is the district's entertainment area, connected to the Commons by a glass skybridge overlooking New Babbage. Here, people hang out to have drinks (or consume substances) at Wally's and shop at the various establishments surrounding the bar:^[4]

Tobin Expo Center

The Expo Center, named after microTech's founder Magnus Tobin, is located near the Domes district and occasionally hosts events such as the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2950 or Invictus Launch Week 2951.

Aspire Grand

The Aspire Grand is the signature skyscraper of New Babbage's skyline. Here, players can live in one of the Nest Apartments and enjoy spectacular views of the city and its surrounding environs.^[3] The city's main hospital, Brentworth Care Center, is located here as well, along with a small public art gallery.

Transit

New Babbage's public transit system is known as the Metroloop, consisting of high-speed magnetic levitation capsules serving all major districts. Grand Line connects the spaceport, the Commons, Tobin Expo Center, and the Aspire Grand. Further lines run outwards on spokes from the hub.^[3]

Significant characters

Eddie Parr can be found at Wally's.^[3] He wears the façade of a chatty bartender, but is really pulling the strings in numerous legal and illegal ventures. Eddie is in contact with both Michael Shaw and Wallace Klim.
