The Kruger P-52 Merlin is a snub fighter originally designed to pair with the RSI Constellation. Boasting a centerline Gatling cannon and a Lightning Power engine, the Merlin is a fast, maneuverable ship that packs a surprising punch! Ideal for racing, local reconnaissance and fast combat.[1]

Features

A custom variant on Kruger Intergalactic’s Tigerstrike line of rotary cannons, this powerful gun was designed in conjunction with the team working on the P-52 Merlin to ensure that it fit seamlessly with the graceful lines of light fighter’s hull while still rapidly delivering round after round with the dependability that one expects from a Kruger weapon.
RSI Constellation Docking
Both the P-52 and the P-72 are designed to use RSI's Constellation series docking cradle, offering a unique symbiosis between the 2 ships.
Compact Spaceframe
The P-52 is a true snub fighter as its compact size allows it to fit relatively comfortably inside the cargo bays of a ship such as the Freelancer MAX or Constellation Taurus.

Trivia

  • It was part of the Referral Bonus for players who referred the game for friends through their code during the Ship Showdown in 2020. The ship came with LTI as all other Referral Campaigns.
  • The Merlin was offered as Referral Bonus again during the Patch 3.18.1 Free Fly campaign. The ship came with LTI as all other Referral Campaigns.
  • The P-52 was named Merlin by Ben Lesnick in reference to Wing Commander, where it is both a Terran Confederation fighter and the name of the interface to Blair's Portable Personal Computer, a 16" tall holographic wizard who can appear to provide needed information similarly to Alexa or Siri, and voiced by Mark Hamill in the Wing Commander movie.[2]
