The Tumbril Nova is a fully comprehensive battle tank, reimagined for the modern age. This heavy tank offers a devastating combination of weaponry to eliminate threats on the ground and in the air.[1] Initially designed during the Second Tevarin War, the Nova battle tank has been a staple of ground warfare operations ever since.[1]

Features

Vehicular Shields
In addition to its composite body armor, the Nova comes standard with Second Skin Shields for an extra layer of defense. However, the vehicle has weak spots that can be exploited in engagements. Specifically, the rear entry and exposed tracks are considered as vulnerable areas of the tank.[2]
Long-Range Ballistic Cannon
The main gun of the Nova fires large-caliber artillery rounds with high accuracy and velocity. It is designed for both ground-to-ground and ground-to-air engagements.
Secondary Remote Turret
Installed onto the tank turret, a pair of Klaus & Werner CF-227 Panther Repeaters are intended against infantry and high-speed targets. The weapon can be replaced with any compatible size 2 counterpart. It should be noted that the Repeater weapons and with missiles are designed to be effective enough to deter a pilot in fighters like the Sabre and Hornet. However, the tank is not expected to be able to stand up against such ships for a prolonged engagement.[3]
"Firebug" Energy Missile Launcher
Self-charging launchers that fire clusters of compressed energy to saturate ground targets with explosive blasts.
Multiple Crew Stations
The Nova features crew stations for a pilot, gunner, and support crewman. A large stand-up cabin provides ample room for longer missions and expeditions.[1]
Equipment Stowage
The Nova has 1,000K μSCU of internal storage and multiple gun racks.

Acquisition

Lore

  • The Nova first entered service during the Second Tevarin War in the 2600s, it was intended to replace Tumbril's DX20 as the new battlefield equalizer. The tank became famous after the Battle of Koren Pass in 2605, in which three Nova tanks held off an entire Tevarin strike team for more than sixteen hours.[1]

Development

The Nova was announced with a size 4 cannon in concept, it was upgraded to a size 5 cannon in release.[4]

Trivia

  • The Nova tank is commonly referred as "Tonk" by the community. It was based on a mispronunciation by the technical designer Corentin Billemont from the Around the Verse Holiday Special 2017.[5] Having been added to in-game shirts, "Tonk" is technically canon.
