The Reliant Kore is a light transport variant of the Reliant series developed by Musashi Industrial and Starflight Concern. Incorporating sophisticated designs from the Xi’An, Kore boasts wide, streamlined wings, omni-directional thrusters, and a fully articulated two-seat cockpit that accommodates both horizontal and vertical flight modes. This design not only enhances its functionality but also provides a greater carrying capacity compared to many vessels in its category, making the ship an ideal option for short-range transport.[1][2][3]

Features

Cargo
The Kore can accommodate a maximum of 6 SCU of cargo within its internal compartment, which can be conveniently accessed through a rear door that folds down to function as a ramp.[1]
Tractor beam
The vessel is equipped with a Size 2 tractor beam, which is controlled remotely by the co-pilot.[1]
Xi'an Technology
The cockpit is designed to adjust its position based on the selected flight mode, while omni-directional thrusters are utilized in accordance with the trade agreement with Aopoa. The wingspan is constructed from sophisticated Xi'an metal composites, and all control surfaces have been carefully enhanced from the original Xi'an designs created for the Freelancer by MISC's internal xenotech team.[2]
Weapons
The Relant Kore possesses a degree of defense, featuring a remote turret equipped to carry two Size 2 guns, in addition to another pair of Size 2 guns mounted under its wings, along with missile racks capable of accommodating four Size 2 missiles.[1]

Lore

In 2946, following on the success of the Freelancer "Built for Life" campaign, MISC has begun development of a smaller, introductory-class spacecraft that can be operated by a single pilot. The "Boomerang" project, later known as the Reliant, was developed in both the main MISC plant located in Saisei and the Xi'an MISC plant located in Shorvu by lead designer Edward Alburn and lead engineer Monica Feyez. The ship series is designed to compete with the RSI Aurora and the Consolidated Outland Mustang.[3][2]

The Kore variant was designed specifically by MISC to act as a balanced support its own Hull series. While the Hull line is solely dedicated to moving cargo from point to point with little interference, the nimble and better-armed Reliant is ideal for journeys that might involve an engagement or two. The Reliant has been approved for sale and flight around the inhabited galaxy in 2946.[2]

Development

Losing SCU capacity: During the finalising of the ship design, it was decided that there was a need for a permanent walkway from the rear entrance to the cockpit, straight through the cargo area. However, because the exterior model was already complete, this meant that the ship’s cargo capacity had to be reduced from the the initial design of 6 SCU to 4 SCU to accommodate the change.[citation needed]
Restoring the lost SCU: When the ship became flyable, it was quickly released that the cargo hold was too small when compared to other ships like the Aurora CL. After a time, the developers started to work on how to restore the lost SCU without having a radical redesign. The solution was to just simply extend the length of the cargo hold which helped to add an additional 2 SCU. This extended design was also used on the other variants to help solve issues with internal space when they finally became flyable.[citation needed]
2020-05-01 Beefing up the weaponry: A new twin gimbal mount was added to the ship in Alpha 3.9.0. This however has been replaced by a tractor beam once these were made available. The twin gimbal turret can still be purchased in-game and mounted instead of the tractor beam.[4]
