The Anvil F7A Hornet Mk II is the cutting-edge carrier-based fighter revamped from the older F7A Hornet model, the UEE military version of the Hornet.[1] Originally only available to the military, currently used by United Empire of Earth Navy special forces and elite squadrons, it is now available to civilians through the Civilian Defense Forces Overdrive Initiative. [2]

Features

Weapons
F7A Mk II is a hard hitting fighting machine with a pair of Size 4 guns under the wings, four Size 3 guns on the top and nose turrets as well as a pair of Size 4 missile racks.
Pedigree
The Hornet is the UEE Navy's main no-compromise fighter, outfitted for the most dangerous combat encounters.

Development

  • The original F7A Hornet was created by CGBot and it was used in the first pitch video of Star Citizen in the Kickstarter campaign in 2012. Because F7A will be featured in Squadron 42 as a hero ship, in 2016, CIG decided to update the F7A Hornet to current standard since its mesh is still the old CGBot model.
  • The F7A Mk2 Hornet is designed by Chris Smith (Lead Vehicle Artist) in CIG Austin. The idea was to keep the original Hornet F7 MK1 series in the game and then add the F7A MK2 model, modelled completely new from the ground up with the latest techniques and pipeline procedures in 2016, as Chris Roberts thought it would be cool to have the classic Hornet and the new version run side by side, and players would have the opportunity to keep the old MK1 as a classic collectors item.[3]

Trivia

  • The F7A Hornet Mk II used to be one of the rarest player-owned ship. It has only been given out to a few individuals in the 2017 Combo Pack Raffle but it could only be spawned in the hangar and was not flyable.[5][6] On 2024-03-16, it was made flyable, making those individuals the first players who pilots their own F7A Mk II.[7]
  • Since 2024-03-15, the F7A Hornet Mk II was made available to players who completed all missions in the Overdrive Initiative event.[8]
